So the cast list is a bit fuller:

Pam Ferris - Barnie
Amelia Bullmore - "vampish baddy"
Steve Buscemi - Barman who gets thrown into mud
Martin Clunes - ?
Robbie Coltraine - Tomy (quite a major character)
Jason Donovan - Himself (a baddy?)
Neil Dudgeon - Policeman
Mark Heap - ?
Hugh Hopper - Alan (quite a major character)
Lauren LaVerne - ? (the Family Affairs Woman role)
Guy Pearce - Babysham (quite a major role)
Pookie Quesnel - Jade (originally played by Juliet Landau. Female lead)
Liz Smith - ?

Are any of the unknown characters Leticia perhaps?

With three unplaced actresses there, I'd say the odds were favourable.

There was something in the Yorkshire Post last week about them filming at the Emmerdale Farm lot:

Cast from Emmerdale were expecting to rub shouders with the giants of Holywood this weekend when ACNC TV's star-studded New Soap came to the village. The cameo-filled comedy series is currently in filming for a spin-off episode centred around Guy Pearce's android character Babysham. Pearce is renowned for his roles in the hit films Priscilla Queen of the Desert, LA Confidential and The Time Machine, but the Emmerdale regulars had to put their autograph books away as Pearce was not involved in the weekend's filming. There was some consolation however, in the form of the handsome star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Manchild and the Gold Blend ads, Anthony Head.
John Middleton, who plays Ashley, the vicar in Emmerdale, told us "It's been great fun. I got to deliver some cracking lines, but it was all over a little too quickly really, like a bit of a dream. It almost seems as if it never actually happened."
Fans of Emmerdale can expect to see a couple of familiar faces from the past when the scene goes out as part of the Babysham series on ACNC TV this Autumn.

Two words kind of jump out at you, don't they...

Ashley's words should temper your excitement.

And "the village" should really be capitalised.

You mean, it's a false lead? The story's made up?

The Village?

I hear "The Village" and I think "The Prisoner". Is Emmerdale the NS answer to Portmeirion?

Isn't The Village the next film by the guy who made 6th Sense and Signs?

M Night Shyamalan. Yes. But Lazlo's closest on this occasion. With regards to my Village comment at any rate.

The filming session at Emmerdale genuinely happened, just incase my earlier comments led you to doubt the article's tenacity.

Presumably then, I can add to the cast list:

Tony Head - Jim?
John Middleton - Ashley the vicar?

After much waiting... two stills have surfaced. Nothing too revealing. Just shots of Babysham in action. Looks like a slightly shaggier haircut this time around, plus some designer stubble. Any idea where these shots come? And for that matter, do we have any idea of a storyline yet?

The first one is from the scenes Amelia was referring to.
The second is from earlier in the same episode.
Let me see if I can find some associated dialogue...

I'm pretty sure that photo 1 is a reaction shot from the first part of this:

BULLMORE: Darling, this power that has forced us together: Who are we to question it? Come; let us embrace once more!
PEARCE: I don't really think that's such a good idea...

Photo 2 is from a scene with not so much dialogue to it, at least not without me revealing another cast member. All I can give you is:

UNGUESSED ACTOR: Do you wish me to sing?
PEARCE: I think we should be quiet, actually; so as to confuse the police.

...which is from the right sort of area. Again, it's a reaction shot from the earlier part of the quote. There's rather a lot of reaction shots actually. I think SJ is avoiding dubbing work as much as possible :)

Good to see the eccentric NS lighting being preserved...

My understanding is that the story is based, at least partially, on Raymond Chandler's "Farewell, My Lovely". If it's anything like the film, then there should be a stupid burly bloke looking for a lost girlfriend (Tomy looking for Leticia), and a blackmailed man with some stolen jade, and a woman who is involved in some way that I forget. And then some old bloke injects Marlow with summat and we trip out. Er...

But clearly, we've got Tomy and Leticia. And presumably Jade is the other woman, as she seemed to have quite a large role. The blackmailed man will probably be either Clunes or Heap, I would imagine.

A friend of mine who works at Sheffield Library says they did a scene there one Monday in Novemeber. He said it was 'that fat Scottish bloke from Cracker, and Mike from Neighbours', which I took to mean Tomy and Babysham. Apparently they were only there for an hour or so.

Liz Smith played a character called Leticia in The Vicar Of Dibley. Perhaps it's a gag.

Goldblender: Hmm. Maybe. Vicar of Dibley references don't really seem to ring true for the NS though. Or am I just being prejudiced?

Hutch: Didn't they close off Manchester Road and parts of Hillsborough for a couple of mornings to do car chases or something? It was on the travel news. May Day and Spring Bank I think.
