Here's the place to put your Babysham-related thoughts.

PLEASE KEEP SPOILERS TO THE "Put Your Babysham Spoilers Here" THREAD, THANKS.

You might also want to check out the new icons. Only four at the moment:

BS in Ep.2

BS looking unwell

BS publicity shot

Don't know why there's none for Jade or Alan. But there you go.

That was great! I'm sticking with my trusty ANS1 icon, thanks... but when is that grey icon from? Second thoughts, don't tell me. Are there going to be spoilers in here by the way? Cos if there are, I don't want to be around.

Hi, QueenPaté! Long time no see. I'm asking people to keep spoilers to the "Put Your Babysham Spoilers Here" thread, and just use this page for discussing the episodes that have come out.
Thanks.

Great. Good to see BS dominating again. He was almost Blackadder in places. I really enjoyed it.

Hi, all!

I loved the first half. I thought it went a bit floppy when Jade turned up and didn't really get going again till the end, but on the whole I thought it was pretty good. I miss all the others though. It's alright for you, QueenPaté, you're a BS obsessive. But I miss Jim, Stew, Leon and Alex.

Still, like I say, I thought it was good. I'm certainly looking forward to the next episode.

Was there an Easter Egg, Laz?

I didn't see one, Hutch, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one.

I think I quite liked the bit that you didn't. Making the coffee in the kettle and playing with the holograms... And then trying to shake off Tomy. And then visiting Jason Donovan. I found that all rather amusing.

I didn't really get the library scene though...

The library scene was a reference to Noble & Silver, who were a comedy double-act in the early days of E4. So not the widest audience really. There's a sketch in one of their shows where they go to Sheffield Library and one of them coughs up phlegm into a book.

Sounds pleasant.

Well I had fun. The trouble is it all went by too quickly. ANS always seemed to last longer than an hour. This only felt like half an hour. I watched it again straight after, cos there was nothing better on. And I enjoyed it nearly as much. I liked the old woman best. She was great.

I thought the goat scene was a bit laboured, to be honest, FCM. But I can see why you'd enjoy it.

Hiya.
I thought Babysham was really cool. I've never seen A New Soap before, but a friend told me I should watch this, so I did. And I'm really glad because it was the best thing on the TV this week, easy.

Exciting? I'm not sure if I can do exciting. Erm...
I can give you approximate filming dates:
Animation / John Hurt vo - Some time in last three months
Everything before Jade arrives - Late 2002, and one or two bits early 2003
Scenes with Jade - early 2004 (although the Barnie exchange was filmed in early 2003)
Tomy and the bricks / Jason Donovan - Early 2003
Library - late 2003 (one Monday in November)
Dev Cat / Bhuvana in Finland - Early 2004
Credit piece - Last three months

How's that?

Nice, Leon.
I quite liked Ep1 but I reserve my judgement till Ep2.
So Lauren Laverne's character is called Bhuvana? That's exotic. In fact, it's an Indian name. Not Finnish or Lapp. Is there any deep significance there?

Without descending into spoilers, a quick search of the net tells me that the name Bhuvana means "The Earth", and that the Bhuvanas are the worlds of the Earth, Heaven and Hell in Hindu theology.
I should however also point out that there is a Tamil film called "Saami", whose female lead is a character called Bhuvana. Note also that Saami is to Lapp as Inuit is to Eskimo.

Which of these is the correct derivation of Lauren's character's name, and whether either have any bearing on future plot, I cannot / will not say. But it was a very good question, Dan. You did well to ask it.

What an intriguing and thorough response. Thankyou, Leon.
So two episodes down now. What did people think? Personally, I thought it ended odd, but everything before the end was much better than Ep1. More like the New Soap of old. Great fun.

With you all the way, Laz. It was suddenly an episode of ANS! When Morten turned up... absolutely brilliant. And a cliff-hanger ending too!

She is indeed. What are people's thoughts on Jade? I think she's not to be trusted, myself. Not convinced Pooky Quesnel is the best person to play her either. But I could yet be proved wrong on both counts.
